10 Tips on Financial Management

Text: 2Kings 12:4-15

You all will agree with me money is so crucial to our human existence. A man is reduced to nothing in our world without money. If you see life as a project, then you must agree with me you need good financial management skills to fare well in the project-life.

Below here are ten (10) financial management tips put together for your reading pleasure. These tips were taken from the Bible reference above. It’s all about the story of a temple that needed management attention, and the priests who should championed that ignored it. Anyways, let’s see what we can learn from that here:

1. No one can really tell you what you should venture into; It must come from your inside as an individual.
2. The financial discipline required to keep a home/relationship isn’t age/sex dependent.
3. When you set financial goal. It shouldn’t be static. Practical is normally slightly different from theory when the theory is thorough, therefore
4. Evaluation must be carried out from time to time. This is to keep you informed if your plan is evolving or falling apart.
5. As a young sharp, don’t shout money money money first. Rather, build image. Integrity is key. If your personality is questionable, you might just be another accident waiting to happen.

6. Don’t try to change your status before you are eligible to.
7. Don’t fake it. Don’t live fake life. Don’t pretend to be rich. Rather, go for riches and get it. Whatever you acquire with deceit could easily evaporate.
8. Save money deliberately to invest it in the near future. Study shows that inflation rate will make you lose more than you gain if you keep your money in bank/savings account for too long.
9. Always have atleast one eye on the future. Think of the unknown spouse/partner. Think of the yet to come children. Include them all in your financial plan from now. Don’t rinse and repeat the error of your parents.
10. Be teachable. That Mogul and author, Brian Tracy wrote, “the minimum requirement for success in any enterprise is continuous reading.” Read and implement. Read again and correct your mistake(s).
